ANNUAL EVENTS

The Annual Awards Night Banquet
MSBC’s Annual Awards Night Banquet is usually held in January/February to recognize and award those members, men, women, and children who have caught fish in various categories that are the Top Fish in each category.
Tackle Auction
MSBC is the host each year to a tackle auction. This very much anticipated event usually takes place in early April at the Devon VFW, 422 Naugatuck Avenue in Milford. Members are allowed to bring to auction, any fishing, boating, or sporting items, with a percentage of the final auction price being donated to MSBC. This event is open to the public and is always well attended.
For the past 50 years MSBC, in partnership with the City of Milford, has organized and run the annual trout derby which takes place at the two ponds in downtown Milford. The Trout Derby is held the first Saturday in May. This is a great opportunity for those children who might not otherwise catch a trout to do so. The ponds are stocked with several hundred trout up to 6 lbs. Following the derby is a casting contest. When the casting contest is over there is the awarding of prizes and trophies in various categories, and a well-stocked raffle.
Annual Picnic
MSBC’s Annual Picnic is usually held in August which is open to all members and families for about $20 per guest. This event is catered and offers a huge spread from hot dogs and hamburgers to clam chowder and assorted salads. Come by and eat all day with great company!
Each year Milford Striped Bass Club participates in the Interclub Bluefish Tournament. This fishing tournament is held in August. There are a total of 12 local area fishing, boating, and yacht clubs that fish this tournament. At the annual banquet, which takes place in the following January, the trophy presentation takes place to the top finishing club as well as other individual awards. Election Night
In December, the annual meeting includes the election of officers for the upcoming year. Pizza, beer, and soda is provided by MSBC to those members in attendance following the business part of the meeting.
